I checked on them day & night as the mama was regulating the eggs' temperatures during frost warnings with her own loving body heat- today, both mama & papa robins are hunting nonstop in the yard for food; I learned that robin daddies are HIGHLY involved in providing for their families, and also in the care of teaching of survival skills to their babies! I expect to see the babies shadowing their father in the yard as they learn to hunt from him as soon as they are able to leave the nest! Once they get their eyes open, they begin intense "wing flapping" drills to build their pectoralis muscles as the approach of their "flight training" begins! Luckily (for them- not me- as I'm the one in charge of all the hedge trimming during the growing season, haha), I have LOTS of hedges for the babies to hide out in as their first attempts at flight are often quite wobbly, but unfortunately the kitties of the neighborhood often like to lurk in the hedges just waiting on them, soooo- I have been popping up at the edges of my yard to "head them off at the pass" with treats to stuff them into enough of a lazy "comfort zone" that they'll return from whereever they came to go into full on "slumber mode." Cats do most of their hunting at dawn and dusk when they have a vision advantage over their prey. I have to admit if I forget my glasses... I'm often not sure if I'm seeing a rabbit, possum, or kitty unless I'm paying attention to the movement patterns, but luckily I've got experience on my side and if anything, I've noticed that sharp vision actually keeps you paying attention to things which usually don't matter, but when your eyesight isn't as good, you become much better at paying attention to the things which really DO- your listening abilities improve, you notice behavior patterns better, you rely more on your intelligence & wisdom gained from previous experience, and most importantly, you don't dismiss your "gut instincts" which I believe are your most reliable danger detection systems. Understanding that your gut bacteria was probably amongst the earliest form of life on Planet Earth & that they are literally understanding what's going on with your body on a level much deeper than you could ever be consciously aware of, it behooves you to listen very carefully to what your guts are trying to tell you at all times. Luckily, I know these baby robins operate very heavily on instinct, as I watch their little beaks opening and closing & pray that God will watch over them, as He does for me. Amen!

I successfully submitted all my continuing education due last week to renew my Certified Professional Coder certification from AAPC through April 2028 & also renewed my membership through next year!
